Mike works in the Logie Timber shop, where he spends much of his spare time carving and shaping small wooden items by hand. His work focuses on traditional everyday objects such as spoons, knives, porridge spurtles and honey dippers, each made with a simple appreciation for the material.
Working with a knife and a small selection of hand tools, Mike shapes each piece directly from solid timber, allowing the grain and character of the wood to guide the final form. The process is slow and deliberate, producing objects that are practical, durable and comfortable to use.
These pieces reflect a long tradition of simple wooden tools made for the home and kitchen, where usefulness and craftsmanship go hand in hand.
