Description

Quinta da Lapa Nana Reserva Tinto - Tejo, Portugal (75cl, 14.%)

“Nana is not our mother’s true name, but everyone calls her Nana. Our memories of taste and flavours come from her kitchen, conviviality sits at her table, and it’s around her that everything happens and takes place. This wine celebrates Nana’s liveliness.” - Quinta da Lapa. ❤️

From the centuries old Quinta da Lapa winery, in the Tejo region, this is a big old wine! A wonderfully, sumptuous blend of indigenous varietals Touriga National, Castelao, Alicante Bouchet, this is fermented in temperature controlled, stainless steel vats, which is then allowed to rest for 12 months in French and American oak barrels.

Tasting notes: Bright and vivacious ruby in colour. Fantastically aromatic, with ripe cherry, balsamic and fig syrup with hints of cacao, cinnamon and other sweet spices. The palate is juicy, with a smooth texture and a mouthfeel balanced by a bright acidity with a good tannin structure. Plenty of ripe, red fruit with a touch of pepper and herb through the mid palate, which develops with to a warm spice and chocolate finish.

Food match: Something big, hefty and meaty. Or some strong cheese. Anything that packs a punch as this is a serious wine for grownups!
